a couple of months ago i made a few renders of a somewhat old 2003 competition project for the provincial HQ of a brazilian political party (I got second in the national competition). they were made before 1.7.1 came out so i did not take advantage of the soft shadows available now.

axis orientation and omni grid

i am having a problem with the orientation of the omni grid.

the face used for the creation of an omni grid is oriented differently to the global axis orientation. this causes the omni grid to be always skewed in relation to the face used to generate it.

from this i gather that the omni grid plugin is set to follow the original axis orientation and not the orientation of the face it is based on.

is this correct and can this be changed? is there a way around this problem? i am having a hard time to set a grid that is parallel to the sides of the face.

Hi guys, I have just gone through the light cones tutorials in thetips and tricks section and wanted some critic on image. I've been fiddling with podium for a while now but some how I can't quite get the images as clear and crisp as some I've seen here, even after using photoshop.....help please

Sun In - Garbage Out

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Getting a complete wash out of color using sun only, plastics set at 30%, metals 50%, I tried a dark background only, no ground or sky, low sun angle, next I will try notching down the reflection values -

however thought I might throw this out as a Newby for any exterior "using sun only" rendering tips....?? Sorry if it's obvious....

Losing Detail

Hey guys, I recently started this rendering (client ran out of money ). I was playing around with some of the detail, and I noticed that sometimes detail disappears on the renderings, same with the elevation, the dentil moulding looks crappy. Any suggestions? I thought of exporting a black and white jpeg and overlaying the linework in photoshop. The fireplace is supposted to be white, how can i make this look better? Any suggestions for the exterior please, I can never seem to get realistic daytime exterior views.

Bugslat when rendering is almost completed

Hi, i'm having serious problems when i want to render images bigger than 1024x768, everything works fine, but when antialiasing gets around 97% and normaly should display the jpg image i get a bugsplat. (i purged the file, copy-pasted in a new window etc,etc,)
Is this a common bug, or has it something to do with my computer?

I hope you guys can help me out, THNX.

(as you can see my english is not really good, but i think you get the message)

Bump material, podium crash on Mac

Recently, I can do rendering with podium and having any bump that I want for the material. But, just yesterday, it started to crash on my Macbook pro.

Then I tried to copy the model to a new file, still can't

I tried to built a new model, applied material, still can't

I tried to built just a room, no material then it worked

So I tried with my model again, no material, It worked fine

then I try to apply material one by one, then in the end I realized that it only crash when I use a material has BUMPxxxx

......

Help!

Need a forest like (only a series of trees) image, that can be used as a background for a render

I was searching the forum a couple of days back and I found a thread, where some one had attached a image with has only trees. We can use this image as a background. I tried to search the form today to find this picture but i am not able to find it. If any one remembers this thread please let me know.

Hi there. I am considering getting the full Podium version (student) and I wanted to know if I changed my computer in the next couple of months would I be able to re-install the full podium software without paying for a new license. Also, would it matter if my new computer had a different operating system (pc to mac) or spec (32bit to 64 bit)? I am currently using the basic license and although I liked the results the resolution is not great(don't know how I got away with handing in 500x500 pixel images for Uni work) Any help would be much appreciated. On another note, what are the advantages of getting the full pack apart from getting higher resolution pictures?

question about sunlight thru window

I am trying to figure out why does the sun light through a window, but it looks like little spots are appearing on the appliances. How do I fix that problem, do I need to assign a different type of glass? This was something I imported from a program called Chief Architect X1 if that can be helpful.

renders are too bright

I downloaded a model from 3dw and rendered with "Display shadows" and "Use sun for shading" turned on. The render is too bright. Is there a way to reduce the brightness. I already have "light" slider at 1. Please help.
