As mentioned in Gallery, I have many high and low poly terrains and many texture maps to fit them, however until i can get my maps small enough in MB and large enough in quality to look good, I do not have a flawless technique. I have included a zip file with a small Island on it, feel free to strip it down, use the water textures (they are good) play with the island texture sizes and see how it fits exactly at only one size, but all other sizes can still be used for additional effects. The water is two textures that were spawned from seven originally using PS blending techniques. If anyone has a solution on getting the texture maps a third of the size they are and still work as detailed, please share as that could be the answer to bringing in 3d figures unlike we have seen before.

And the zip file, The model is in Sketch up ver 5, so all can open it.

Here Is the basic mesh with a SU grass covering, and another with procedural covering.

Wow Solo. This bump workaround looks really good. I think you stumbled onto something here. So is there a space between two textures or they are on the top of each other? How much transparency did you applied to the top texture?

The above is two seperate textures bottom is bump with no transparancy, and top is texture with 69% (very import number here) notice what happens between 69 and 70% transparency.

Now that is really cool!
In fact I think it's so convincing that most people won't appreciate the difference it makes. Could you post comparative images with and without the effect? I think I'll try it with some paving or brickwork.

It does work but in this case I needed to try the other way as the box in which they were wan inhibiting the effect. Podium does not use the GPU thus there is no vertex shader as I understand, nor a vector processing unit so Bump mapping cannot be done.however what you see is fake mapping, used in 2d games and once I have this thing down right, i will post a detailed tutorial, It is not nailed down yet, I stumbled on this serendipitously while creating procedural textures...may be old news or a new find... I just hope I can nail the issues soon and get this down to a science for all to use.
