thanks, I appreciate the answer.  I will give this a try tonight.  Even though this folder is invisible, the plugins should be working, right?

Thanks to Bigstick I can now see my Applications Support folder, but the plugins folder that is supposed to be inside under Sketchup 8 is missing.  Does Lion send these files someplace else? I have podium working, and the podium plugin does not show here either.  Am I the only one with this issue?

For your plugins, go to:-

\Library\Application Support\Google SketchUp 8\SketchUp\plugins

Not your user account

I have been speaking with Apple tech support about another Lion issue and they showed me a technique to unhide the Library folder.  1. Open the finder window. 2. Click on the "Go" tab.  3. Hold down the "option" key and the Library folder will appear in the list.

I do not know.  Lion has many problems.  It is like Apples version of Vista.

Also, there is a plugin MagicPrefs for those of us using an Apple magic mouse with Sketchup.  This give you a choice for a middle click necessary to orbit and pan easily.

To bigstick, or anyone else who may be able to help. I've been using Sketchup for a year now and thought it would be time to render some projects I've done. Last month I got a new iMac (OS X 10.6.8) with Lion. I chose Podium and downloaded it (SUPodiumV2_SU8_7_00.pkg), and I see the plugins in the Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup8/Sketchup/Plugins. However, I don't see any way of initiating Podium once I open Sketchup. WTF? pardon my french. Have I missed something?

Have you SkechUp 7 or 8?

Some icon should appear. You can check in the sketchUp plugins menu; do you see podium V2?

Hmm, no toolbar and no Podium V2 menu items?

You need to make sure you have these files:-

\Library\Application Support\Google SketchUp 8\SketchUp\plugins\SU_Podium_V2.rbs

\Library\Application Support\Google SketchUp 8\SketchUp\plugins\SU_Podium_V2

Note that you go to the Library folder on the 'Macintosh HD' drive, not your user Library folder.

The rbs file is the loader which should initialise everything.

Thanks for the response Nick00 and bigstick. I do have Sketchup8 and I do have all the files:

\Library\Application Support\Google SketchUp 8\SketchUp\plugins\SU_Podium_V2.rbs

\Library\Application Support\Google SketchUp 8\SketchUp\plugins\SU_Podium_V2

That's why I'm so ticked. I seem to have everything needed but I can't launch Podium. I am baffled. If someone could tell me how to attach a screen shot to these messages I could show you my folder layout.

Use Cmd-Shift-3 to take a screenshot.

Do you have administrator rights on the machine?
