Automatically produce a bump map directly from the sketchup texture with simple intensity, scale and replace options.

You know that you have only to write xxx_bumpY, with a value 1 to 5 for Y to get a bumpmap by any texture?. No need to create one.

after you apply your texture, edit it (click on paint bucket first) and add _bumpY to its name.

I am getting zero difference when I do that or use this way

'2. What are bumpmaps and how do I use them?...'

Any suggestions for what I may be doing wrong?

-perhaps you cannot do this on skp materials? It seems to work when I use podium's in built textures

should work on any material. Try some different textures with value 1 and value 5. ( Or go higher.) Be sure to name it correct and if you are on Mac click return after changing the name to ...bumpX

it may have to do with the quality of the textures you are using.  or check if you are not making any typos when adding bump to a material in SUp.

what do you mean by "podium's inbuilt textures"?

I'm trying to understand bump maps for the first time and wanted to read the link in the last post and it said the web page couldn't be found.  Can anyone help me find this link please?

That thing is over 7 years old! This was info for Podium 1.

Bumps are very simple, have a look in the guide in the Material section. You should know all there is in 2min.
