I just sent a private message also, but thought I'd post the same query here.  My Podium rendering times have just massively increased (about fivefold..so, instead of 1 hour, five hours).  This is happening on both of my rendering machines, which are both quite powerful.  The only new thing that I can think of (unless there's something happening on Podium's end) is that I recently installed Enscape on both machines to test it.  Is there any known compatibility issues?

Thanks!

Hi Diane, I just saw your most recent support email.

Since the Barcelona model is rendering at normal speeds for you, I think something in the model you're working on is causing a bottleneck.  Both of the people who regularly do support are at Basecamp, but we can probably look at this today during some downtime.

Thanks,
Justin

My first untested hypothesis is that those pendant fixtures could be causing the slowness.

Refraction is slow-ish to calculate, and those glass pendants have a lot of faces.  Sounds like you're in-transit, but this would be something to look into.

What is the Analyze model report saying?

I rendered this model several times.  At 3,100 X 1,300, using fine_AA preset, the rendering (on a very fast 10 core i7 Windows 10) took 15 minutes. but using _high, it took 9 hours. an acceptable _QMC took 30 minutes.   Why would exterior_high take so long?
I discussed the pendant lights in this model with Davor and these particular pendant - ribbed glass pendant 12 (Interior Lights/ Suspended) are made with Advanced Glass with Glass refraction applied.  In other words, Podium's thick glass which is only available in Podium Browser.  My guess is that _high preset takes a long time to calculate Advanced glass refraction where as the other presets do not.

The High presets so an additional final gathering pass. If the first pass takes a long time, the second pass could take quite a bit longer.

Sometimes, if you have particularly complex calculations, an unbiased preset can be faster than a biased one. That’s what is happening here.

I would argue that we should not have any lights in the Browser that are that complex, or take a long time to render. It defeats the object of having them.

But these light fixtures are beautiful.  If you take out the refraction the rendering image looses the ribbed detail.  But you are right, we should put a warning. WARNING - do not use _high preset on this light fixture.
