to answer edson on my post in lounge section of this forum,

to achieve this kind of images:

my settings:

as for the tree, i've found it on 3d warehouse, in which i couldn't track back. i'm attaching the .skp below though. most prolly i got it through a thread in this forum. i believe it's to be free, i'm really sorry for not giving credit to the creator of this smart built tree. i'd be thankful if anyone could give more information + credit on this matter. i do agree with you that it's a great looking + small sized tree, although the clipmaps of the branches would not render in podium. working around this, my effect was achieved through an unintentionally discovered way:

1. render your scene [trees included] using clay mode render [turn on 'color by layer' at your layer options.]

2. do the 'zem method' with the images [i believe that i could skip explaining this popular method.]

3. double the 'zem method' with a gaussian blurred layer [done in ps.]

as for the bluish tint, i made my front + back surface color a lil bit brownish [so to neutralize the blue saturation you get automatically by turning on the sky, the logic is to fight blue with the exactly opposite color: yellow... play with it, the result could get interesting] + post-processed color correction.

that's it. i hope this could be helpful.

I just DL'd th file and hit render on best settings etc.

What could be wrong?

I never tried that, but it seems that the tree is image like. Try to explode it.

The reason it does not work is because they are transparent .png.... Podium currently does not support that...so you need to make clipmap for it.If you expode to the bits you will see what I mean...

paul,

it is exactly why it wouldn't render. options to do it:

1. re-model the tree model with a clipmapped jpg for the branches.

or, do my lazy trick [there's a reason for my nickname ;p]:

2. save the 'hidden line' native sketchup rendering to get the branches [zem method], you still have some options to do this: do the trees only [separate the trees in a different layer], or do all things visible in the rendering in line drawings.

i hope it would be clearer to you...
