Hi everyone, I have been using podium for a while now but recently I have been having issues with materials.

This is what my sketch up scene look like:

Untitled-1.jpg

And then this is how the render comes out :

simple 3 2014-07-13 18461600000.png

I am using Interior 1.0.8, 70% exposure with the wall behind the camera removed.
After trying everything i went into the podium programme files and realised the materials folder is missing.

I don't know what's going on can anyone help plese?

Thanks,
Sam

Podium has no materials folder, so I'm not quite sure what you are referring to there.

Material issues in Podium are caused by just a few things:-

1. Materials applied to groups and components not faces. This generally works, but periodically there are issues
2. You may have have applied too much reflection. If your material is too reflective, you won't see the texture
3. Check the back faces. Either remove the materials (apply the SU 'default' material) or paint the front face material onto the back face

Check these things, and if you can't find the problem, upload the scene and we'll look at it.

There is a texture folder that Podium saves rendered materials to, but it's hidden in the Temp directory and it's called Textures, so we are not sure what Materials folder you are referring to.

Beside what Big Stick said and if that did not solve the problem, I would also look at Tools--->Analyse and see if there any materials that Podium is having problems with.  Correct anythings that come up like if Materials have LEM and reflections that will produce black faces.

Then use interior_preview for quick renderers.  That will save you some time for just checking.

If for some reason, you do know the location of the Podium texture folder that is created for each rendering and there's no materials in the folder, that's a problem.  I haven't heard of this kind of write permissions problem for years.  But, what you might do is use Generate, save the Generate folder to your Desktop (a place where there should be no write permissions issue).  Then when it is done, there will be a folder with the name that matches today's date.  In the folder is a .script file and a texture folder.  Take a look to see there are material files in the texture folder.   I can almost guarantee that there are material like .jpg or .png saved to that location.

Assuming there are material files in this folder, Next open Podium Render Manager from the SU Podium V2 Plus pull down menu and Add File and choose the .script file in the folder you saved to the desktop.  This will start the rendering.  I don't think that this will solve anything but at least it will put to rest the hypothesis that Podium did not create any materials.

Let us know.

I am having issues with some materials rendering black.
Some have textures applied, some do not.
i have tried all fixes in previous strings.
I analyzed the model and several of the problem surfaces have DTR issues, whatever that is.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I am running SU Podium V2.x Version: 2.5.606

DTR refers to the Materials dialog, the Diffuse/Transparency/Reflection sliders. The values here have to add up to 100%. There aren't many things that you absolutely have to do in Podium, but this is one. Actually values of up to 90% can sometimes be okay, but make them add up to 100%.

It's always better to post the contents of the Analyze model dialog. It helps us to understand exactly what is going on.

Don't use bump unless you think the image really needs it.
