I did this first rendering for a bank's interior and that took2 hours plus....

Did I do something wrong, why is it taking so long. If I were to render a 1600x1200 image, then wow...it's gonna take forever. I didn't do anything with the render quality setting except to render after making the downlights from the ceiling (10 nos.), some wash light below the counter, background office lighting.

Reflections, reflections, reflections...still pretty good outcome. next version of Podium will offer better speeds, and if i understand correctly it will be without too much of a loss in quality. Try using a texture like marble with #3 reflection instead of uber reflective white floors.

I almost gave up on Podium due to the slow speed. But now witht he new improvement, I have not 1 crash since using it to render these pics while doing other task at the same time. And of course the speed is faster. Might consider buying it now.

Hello again,
I keep improving my render on podium, but still feel many glitches need to be removed by future updates. I found the following from this render of a showroom:

i) I cannot create components of square lights as they will not show right and behave strangely. So I end up copying groups and have to change them individually.

ii) The base lighting (yellow band) must not be within any components or else it will not behave right when rendered.

iii) I used grouped light element in mid air to create a general lighting, then add downlights on the ceiling for accent. I found this easily help me to illuminate the interior fast and without much  trying.

Thanks for reading,'Dan

Here is an exterior rendering scene of a feature pond. I found that using sunlight in SU does not really give me control for lighting up dark corner, and most of the time is over-exposed due to strong sun. So I have a lrage LEM behind the camera and many omni lights around the whole model, and many in corners I would like to accentuate. I did not have enough transparency for the water though, that was a pre-render setting mistake.
