Im successfully using edit in place a very nice edition to the work flow.
Can you help with the naming of groups. when I name my group - "house" editinplace uses Group27 - the definition - as opposed to its name. we then have a list of "group27.skp" "group13.skp" etc in the folder we are working in.
This is a sketchup outliner/tree structure/hierarchy way of working which i understand but not fully yet
should i be naming the definition? definition isn't there when you name a group, how do you make it appear? so
can you explain what i should best do in entities regarding naming compared to definition?
Also
also if i start fresh, opening my group27.skp then open its parent file - will I be able to update the parent file with the changes made to group27.skp?
cheers

I believe that the definition is SU's internal name for stuff, while the name is something that you can use to organise your model.

You can add the definitions in the Entity Info dialog.

I'm not aware that Edit in Place imposes any restrictions on how you work.

It is designed to make working on large or complex models with groups and components easier during a drawing session. It isn't designed to work after you close your main file or organise your workflow.

Any issues over use of names vs definitions isn't really for us to comment on.
