That's a pretty cool service, but you need to be a pay member in order to upload files that are more than 10mb, even though they give you a gig to work with. Blast...

This might be a little late, but I cut down the model to a size that's postable. Thanks for the help guys. If you see anything else I could do to make this read better graphically, let me know.

Okay, what kind of texture did you have in mind?

I was thinking of something very similar to the Islands that you posted. The site is a mixture of grass and sand. Here's an aerial image of it.

I'm really interested to learn how this works. Did you say that you needed another program in order to do this?

I am sorry had a hectic Friday, starting arbitration hearing proceedures and running around finalizing closing contracts with title company. Do you have a google earth location? If you do and it is of decent quality I can use that contour map to recreate the actual terrain using a new program (damn I forgot the name, was featured a while back on cornicopia and renderosity.Anyway they are a company in England that maps all sorts of stuff on request and they now found a niche with proceedural terrains for animation (See Vue 6 tutorials) anyway they can supply one a 13 views and panaramas, not to mention gif  animation pass bys or avi flybys of a given location without leaving their seat, I guess they got many French satalites at their bekon call.

Actually no, but almost the same thing, the other has elevations and your choice of eye level. These are much cheaper...almost worth paying for them.

Yeah, I'm not really sure about the google earth location. I'm not really sure I can convince anyone to spend any more money on this model, as I've already wasted enough billable hours making the sketchup model. Is it too complex a contour model?

I have a few textures for you to try, you can map some to the shape but had to cut the quality as the original image that mapped the terrain with a realistic relief map was 6mb.

Attached is a tailored base map, and mass tree texture map.

That tree texture works great, but I can't figure out the other one. How do you map the texture to fit right?
