Im a new user of Podium and i think that podium got a lot of potential, but i agree Nick that Network rendering would be a really good added to Podium.

Add me in list of people who want network rendering

Yees !! pleasee!! I usually work with gigantic models....and I have never been able to render them!! It would be so nice to play around with podium in those kind of scenes!!! so render farms are a must!

This is the most-requested feature. We will look at it. Can't promise anything in terms of timescale though.

This thread looks dead, and I can't see why unless there is a network render feature now that I am not aware of. I would think network rendering options would be necessary from a sales point alone. Right now my company is looking at other rendering engines specifically because Podium is not meeting our production requirements. I know for a fact that we would invest in several licenses immediately if our current users could just throw jobs in a render que on a dedicated machine. In my opinion this the weakest part of Podium. Basically Podium sales suffer as a result of lacking network rendering. Being on a team of individuals working for a company that must sell product to survive, I don't see how leaving this feature out can be anything but detrimental for Podium sales.

If I were on the development team for Podium, I would push this issue as a major priority, and develop a solution a.s.a.p.

Actually it's not - we're on it

First priority - Render All. There is a Windows version only update coming imminently. The Mac version doesn't work because of a Mac-specific SU bug. It ought to work, but it doesn't, and I believe we have told Google exactly why. Render queuing is the objective. Network render support will come later, but it still needs Google to fix their software before it will work on the Mac.

One of the reasons for the delay is that effective implementation depended upon implementing caching, which minimises the preprocessing time for renders, boosting speed significantly. This wasn't a trivial change.

Network rendering has similar structural implications which mean that it's not a simple issue of 'bolting on' a network render solution. Quite significant chunks of code need to be rewritten to implement this. We are doing this for Podium 3, so no network support until then.

It's all very well to tell people what you would do if you were selling Podium, but you don't know what the balance between costs and revenue is, and what the other development priorities are.

As mentioned elsewhere here before, the basic principle is to develop features that 80% of people will use 80% of the time. There are lots of things that we want to implement, but we have a development roadmap.

If it's any help, this is something that I really want as well, but I'm not the boss, and everything needs to earn its place in the priority order

Some of you might not realise, but I'm a regular Podium user, just like you!

Yeah, I was looking at Thea as on option. Right now I am jumping back and forth between my work station Mac, and a dedicated Windows rendering machine. It is not ideal, and it won't work when we try to scale up operations this summer. Running two computers to each work station is not an option. I really hope this feature is something we see soon.

Network rendering in Podium 3....that would be great, our office has a multitude of old pc's still connected to the network and never used..they would be put to service right away!! so whens Podium 3 coming up?

Network rendering would keep me from jumping ship to another software. I love the UI and the simplicity of use, which makes office wide implementation easy. The fact that it can tie up a user's computer for an hour on a finished render, does not.

Network farm support would definitely stop us from looking into other renders and reduce everyone's production time. I hope this moves higher on your priority list then the browser.
