I'm new to both SketchUp and Podium, eager to begin.

On a brand new 2017 Retina iMac (Sierra 10.12.5), I've installed Sketchup 2017;  opened, then closed the app.

Then double-clicked the Podium v2.5.pkg in my application folder (moved directly from Download folder-- no unzip/archive apps used, unless Apple-automated).  The installation sequence begins, until prompting for the Podium password.  I input it case-sensitive, then click Install Software.

The window jiggles, as if a bad password, then the title changes to "Installer is trying to install new software".  A beachball spinning eternal commences.

Neither Firevault nor Firewall are enabled under System Preferences.

Any help from users or Podium would be much appreciated!

If you get the jiggling window, it means your password is wrong or you don't have user permissions to install software.

Check to see if your account has administrator privileges.

Don't move pkg files to the Applications folder, it's not necessary. Leave them in your download folder - unless that is on a network share.

Thank you, Nietzsche.

I deleted .pkg's and re-downloaded.  From the default Download folder I "Opened with" (unzipped) with Apple's Archive app, by control-clicking.  The installation was successful.

Forgot to mention:

On the successful attempt, I downloaded the Podium file with Chrome, not Safari, which I believe eliminated an automated unzip, that might have corrupted the .pkg, on first attempt.
