I'm trying to render a Photo Match.

The model is placed on a aerial photo. I have changed the size of the photo to 1024x768 and used the new Photo Match tool to place the model.

I then resize the Sketchup window to fit the background photo. Then used Podium to render and then connect the two images in Photoshop.

My questions:
How would (do) you do it ?
Is there a way to get shadows on rendered on the ground ?
Is there any way to include the Photo Match photo in the render - so I don't have to edit in PS afterwards ?

Hi
Could you post snippets of it so we can look at it. As far as I know, and I might be wrong, PhotoMatch does not render. There was previously talk elsewhere on SU forum about it. Saying all that it would be worth seeing if it could be made to  work.

another thing you could do to help would be to project textures onto a piece of the model when you render that would act as a marker when overlaying the 2 images in PS... but the textures from the photomatch will be whited out abit from whatever lighting u put in, i doubt theres a convincing way to get the full effect without going to photoshop...

Hi

I'm back on the case. I have added the sketchup file and background image.

What I would like is to get any tips on how to create the most realistisk aerial view of the projekt. I think, one hurdle, is to get some good shadows.

Any suggestions / tips are welcome.

I will post my own attempts.

Jorgensen

ps. please notice - the sketchupfile is a renamed ZIP file - so, please rename to 20070501 01.zip and unpack.

This is the best I could get, however it seems construction has started on a warehouse.

I have the contour map for the area and all I need is a 12% tilt facing north by north east, but googles pic is crap and Windows does not have Denmark mapped yet.

A suggested layout, unless map has already a shadow casting on ground then try and match view. I never added contour, as it would entail making layers, moving homes, actually doing stuff...sorry.

Iv'e managed a quick photo match using Zem's mixed media technique. if you size the podium render and the photo match pic to be the same, they go together nicely on photoshop. it's a bit rough but you get the idea
