Greetings all!

First of all, you guys are amazing, thanks again to everyone who submitted.  We really weren’t sure how much interest this would get, and the turnout blew our expectations out of the water with 68 entries!  A couple housekeeping things:

I put up a contest gallery page: Right here

I know you won't all see this post immediately, but if I somehow missed you, please let me know ASAP!  Two things about attribution/credits:

  1. If you have a personal page or social media presence that you want linked, please leave a comment below.  I added them when I could find them, but if it isn't in your forum profile or signature I probably missed it.
  2. I used forum usernames unless I already knew your name or it was publicly viewable in your profile.  If you want me to credit your real name let me know below.  I’ll change names and/or add links as they come in.

JudgingI’m still not sure how fast this will happen, but since there are 68 entries it will likely take some time.

  • We're scoring them based on several weighted categories including use of Browser, technical execution, design/originality, etc.
  • I have all the images downloaded, and judging will be done using the offline full resolution versions, not the gallery page since browsers don't always reproduce images faithfully, downsample to fit in window, etc.
  • I'm working on a gallery solution for those of you who submitted multiple views of your space, but I wanted to get the page up before What's New went out yesterday.  I may just link to your forum threads.  Again, we'll judge based on the downloaded images, so if you have multiple views, the judges will see them, I promise.

Finally, we'd love to keep the momentum alive here—what would you guys like to see in the future? Open to any ideas!

The obvious answer is more contests, possibly one for exteriors and one for panoramas?? But we most likely can’t hold large-scale competitions (with big prizes) super regularly.

Is anyone interested in smaller scale themed challenges on a monthly basis?  Not sure yet whether something like this would be with smaller prizes, or whether they'd simply be friendly/practice challenges.

I'd expect much lower participation for something like that, however I realize that some people just enjoy working from a theme, and the added competitive aspect can be fun, so if people want them I'm more than happy to run them!

Any other thoughts or ideas, definitely let me know!

Thanks again everyone!

Justin

We should try a new theme contest... Christmas theme could be a challenge but fun also.

Hello to all!

Practice makes the master, so yes more contests! friendly or themed, I have a couple of ideas for themes, like a conceptual render or an impossible scene, isometric view, axonometric, technical, section render, urban landscape, product render, well a lot more than a couple...

Again thanks for everything, the podium browser helps me every time! and with the constant updates, the library it's amazing, so yes again thank you!

I agree, themed contests would be fun and challenging. And the possibilities are endless: something as simple as a specific room in a residential of commercial building or something more abstract.

One of the advantage of having a cash prize is that it enabled users (like myself) to discover the forum. It was inspiring to see how people were passionnate about space and design, and helpful too! I have to admit though that I would still participate in a non-cash prize contest, just to challenge myself.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Justin,

Would you mind linking my website? www.storygarvie.com

Also, I would love to see more competitions, even without a cash incentive [smile] Mayve different rooms, exteriors, commercial spaces, fantasy, etc.

Thanks!

That's great to hear!  That's one of the things I was definitely hoping for, that it would bring some new users to the forum.

Since it sounds like there's interest, what I'm thinking is if we can choose a theme here, I can probably piggy-back a "monthly challenge" announcement onto the end of the winners announcement email that will go out for this competition.

The first one could run through the rest of November and December and then have them start on the first of every month after that.

Justin,

Friendly (and smaller scale) challenges such as a monthly challenge on a regular base is a great idea... count me in!

As for the gallery page, can you please add the following link under my name:

(this link includes some of my interior private houses demos rendered by SU PODIUM....)

Hey Justin,

Can you do me a favour. I realized my image is small compared to the rest but that might have been due to how I attached it. If possible, please add one of the larger sizes from the below link. Also, my name is Valdano Morgan [biggrin]

Oh and yes, monthly contests (or quarterly to build suspense) would be a great way to keep people active. This competition has given me a whole new appreciation for Podium and the power of the browser (even though I only have the free version). It would be a great marketing tool and I sure would take part each time.

As someone mentioned earlier, Christmas is fast approaching so something related to that would be fitting. I'd suggest starting in 2017 as a new, fresh, community building project.
