Ahh, sorry about that. You know what I think happened is I linked the image from your thread instead of the fullres version you uploaded to Box.  Glad you caught it because the full version looks pretty fantastic.

Justin

Val,

regarding the Christmas suggestion - not sure if the subject of the contest should relate to a specific religion since we are a mixed group from all over the world....

Good point Tami. Never even thought of that. My apologies. I guess in that case we could stick to Architectural themes. Something like 'Contemporaty Kitchen' or 'Classic Bedroom' etc.

The idea is to not have the category to wide open as it will pose challenges when judging (like I assume this current contest is)

Actually I think Christmas is an entirely reasonable suggestion.

Regardless of one's religion, everyone understands what it is, and it means different things to different people - and that I think makes it all the more interesting!

I could happily enter a render contest with the theme of Diwali for example. My socio-ethnic background has nothing to do with it.

Christmas does not have to be a Judaeo-Christian expression. For example the period from 26th December is also linked to Kwanzaa.

Yeah definitely, do you want me to use your real name or leave it as beemer? If yes what's your last name?

Hey Justin, please add my web page: http://www.mydesigndossier.com
Thanks!

p.s. would love more themed competitions, even if they are just friendly.

Concerning the possible Christmas-inspired render contest, I agree with all comments posted above. But in a more matter of fact perspective, I think this would allow me to use (and test [smile]) the Christmas holiday category of the browser, category that I've avoided so far...I would also like to see how this theme would be interpreted, in an architectural manner, by different people.

This competition was really fun!  I am pretty sure you could do a contest of any category and it would turn out awesome, but usually you only get good turn outs when there is something to win.  I know it made me more interested in competing, but not just the possible monetary reward, almost just as important or more to me would be to get any kind of exposure for my business.  I know that might be less important to non professional users (I only mean you don't do this for a living, I consider all of us pros at this program!!) but even personal recognition is important to many people.  So instead of cash every time maybe a weeks worth of promoting or highlighting the winners work would be a cool prize, OR if you win you can request an item to be made and offered in the browser...  etc...  I dont think competitions with zero prizes work but these could be cool alternatives to cash...

Thanks again for awesome program and REALLY REALLY deep library in the browser I couldnt get by without it [thumb] instead of commenting on everyone's thread I will just say wow!!  Good job everyone!!

Hey all,

So it sounds like there is plenty of interest in a friendly monthly challenge.  There have been some great suggestions, I think starting in January it's a good idea to focus on whatever arch-viz and/or design themes people are interested in.

For this first one, would you guys be on board with a "Holiday / Winter" challenge from now until Dec 31st?

That would include all the winter holidays, and also open it up to any other winter related themes people might be interested in rendering... i.e. ski lodge, cozy fireplace, steaming mug of hot chocolate/mulled wine, snowman (abominable or otherwise), snowy exterior, pivotal battle for a rebel installation on a wintry planet in a galaxy far far away....

Of course, this is still ill-timed for our users in the southern hemisphere, but I think it's broad enough that nobody will feel excluded.

Justin

Actually I'm really interested to see how the Christmas holiday period is celebrated in Asia, South America, Australasia and the West Indies, whether Christian or not!
