I was wondering if someone could you help me, I would like to render an external image at quite a high resolution but when I do it cuts off part of the image within the viewport, is there a way to get the viewport image to render at a better quality and if so which preset should I use. The image will be used on a sale board and needs to be good quality, currently im at about 2400 x 1200 res

Thanks

Bill

If you want to use your viewport but at higher resolution, simply multiply it by some value (x2 or x3) and enter it as fixed custom size. Preset depends on quality you want, how complex your model is, number of light sources, reflective faces etc... 1.0.8 presets are generally really good, faster then QMC and better quality then 1.0.5

Note that the height of the render will always be the same as what you see in sketchup. No-matter how you set your resolution the image will never be "cropped" vertically when rendered. Then depending of width , it will be larger or narrower: if the width/height ratio is different than your viewport.

For an external site  signboard, a resolution of 4000x3000 is usually the highest you will ever need, and looks really good when enlarged. You can get away with 2500w x 1800h if it's a smallish image.

Don't listen to any crap people will give you about dpi [smile]

This is the section for posting Tips and Tutorials, as the note in the list says [smile]

Main messages board is the place for this. Sounds like either your licence number is not valid, or you are using the trial version.
