Hi

I usually go with:

shadows
shadows: on
light: from 3 to 7
dark: 3 to 7

Style
Sky: off
Ground: off
Background: Try 225,225,225 or 235,235,235. (Enter this in the RGB field)

I sometimes replace the default texture with coolgrey 1 from the markers palette

I mostly use the quality.xml preset.

result is attached.

Hi again, attached a screenshot of the shadow settings.

But please play around with the settings, I'm sure you can improve them so they fit just the model you are trying to render!

Also, you can almost always give your renders that extra fine finish by doing some post processing. Just fiddling with the light slider can make a great difference
