Hi

How would you render realistic looking roof tiles? I haven't had success with using textures, and modelling the roof tiles results in a extreme amount of faces.

This model contains around 5000 faces, which is pretty intense considering that it is only 25% of a very simple roof construction.



So please share any useful information you got on this issue!

That looks pretty good though mate.

In the past I've only modeled the top face by extruding a PNG of a a tile. This will cut down on the amount of faces you have to deal with.



It's an idea to have about 6 different tiles to randomise on the roof so avoid that 'jpg' look.

Or you can always overlay a rough tile texture in PP.
