Bitting my nails?  I was petrified!  I started the render before leaving the office last night and half expected to see another splat when I stopped at the office this morning on my way to a community service project.  Needless to say I was happy.  I really need to work on my patience

I'm cooking up a new 2048x1536 render right now, completely different scene than the ones I've posted thus far.  I hope to have it done sometime tomorrow, if the evil bug splat does not re-appear.  I'll even make a special trip into the office just to see if it ran.

Here are some sites I've used for the sky backdrops.  Some of the backdrops came from photo sites, but I can't recall just exactly where.

http://www.grsites.com/textures/  (some crap in here, but some good things as well

http://textures.forrest.cz/  lots of stuff in here.

http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbourke/texture_colour/  not much for skies in here, but take a look anyway

http://www.noctua-graphics.de/english/freetex_e.htm  22 sky shots here.

http://mayang.com/textures/  This one will blow your socks off.  Lots of good stuff.  Some kind person mentioned this site in this forum.....I can't remember who, but they did us all a good turn with that suggestion.

daniela, I love those sky shots, I agree with David, where did you get those if you don't mind telling us?

Shaky.

Nice skies, i have a collection too and if anyone needs anything less common like a night city scape backdrop, or dusk in the desert etc let me know. I used Bryce6 and Vue infinite to create most of my backrounds.

This is my attempt at another 2048x1536 render, a night scene this time.  Before anyone gets a chance to comment I will state that I realize the flag looks a bit boxy, and the garage needs some lighting:  I will correct these items on the next run.

Here are the settings I used:

Light =4

Dark = 14

time = 6:30 AM

Location = Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Additional lights:

Omni lights under porch:  3"x3" cubes set at 30

Omni lights in candle lights in windows:  1/2"x1/2" cubes set at 20

LEMs in the landscape lights along the walk ways set at 30.

The car has a reflective value of 18.

quality was set at about 33%

render time was 10 hrs, 38 mins

Very crisp image! How about using a sunset sky background? Also the grass texture is repeating like a tile - maybe set the texture size to 3x what it is now?
