Hi All,

I have just installed SUPodium but for some reason it wont load with sketchup. I get this error even if i am not opening any file just trying to start bare sketchup. i tried removing all other plug-ins as well as reinstalling sketchup but to no avail.
can anyone help? I've search the forums there is only one other person who reported this error but its not clear if it was fixed.
this is a fairly old machine but i can still sketch in it so i see no reason to change, this is mainly my house comp which doubles as workcomputer if i have bring work home.
Specs:   Core 2 Quad 2.5Ghz, 4GB memory, 64bit Win7

thanks...

ok so i tried installing to my newer laptop and it worked fine. Is there a minimum requirement for Podium?

No, but unless you are rendering very simple scenes, you really need 8Gb RAM for rendering!

so you think its the memory thats the problem? but i don't think so, since i'm not even rendering anything yet, just trying to run sketchup and the SUPodium plugin just wont load.

Actually I think it might be a plugin or system conflict, but sometimes these things can be extraordinarily difficult to diagnose.

Okay, but it's worth remembering, that you have a low end machine for 3D modelling and rendering [smile]

Fine for simple stuff, but for anything large or complex - not so much...

Hi - I just installed the free trial (SU2017_Podium_V2_5_606_x64.exe) and received this error message as well as soon as I tried to open SketchUp. It doesn't matter what file I try to open, including a blank template file. I doubt that it is a system spec issue in my case.

Is there any way to troubleshoot this issue?

This is unusual. What other plugins do you have installed?

Also do you have any unusual software or hardware?

As I mentioned earlier, I think this is a Sketchup plugin conflict. On the vast majority os systems, Podium installs and runs just fine. If you have this error without using Podium, it's likely to be a plugin conflict.

If SU used to work fine before you installed Podium, and everything else works fine, it's almost certainly a conflict. Your existing plugins are the most likely culprits.

bigstick - Thank you for the reply. This is the first (only) plugin / extension I've installed. Everything about this install of SketchUp is right out of the box. In fact, I've only used this install a few time on a small project.

I have a pretty vanilla workstation both from a hardware and software standpoint: Intel i7, Windows 7 Professional SP1, 16GB ram

I will try the install on another machine tomorrow.

Hmm, this is weird!

I wonder if your antivirus software is interfering with the Podium installation.

What Antivirus software do you have installed? We've seen problems caused by antivirus software in the past. Perhaps this is a new one.

Hi - We run avast! Endpoint Protection Suite Plus 8.0.1609.0

It seems like a pretty passive application. In fact I didn't even know we ran anything besides Window Defender until I searched Programs and Features.

I will try to reinstall podium on this machine now.

Okay, please let us know if this fixes it. Try uninstalling Podium first. Don't just reinstall over the existing installation.

You might also need to reinstall SU...
