For the moment, it is true that the only difference is render size and access to the registered users area.

However... in the near future there will be more differences between the 2 versions. The free version will have continue to have usable single image rendering.

The current size of 640x480 is being looked at. It won't get any bigger for the free version, it could conceivably get a bit smaller though, but this is by no means certain.

There are lots of really cool things that are being planned, but you will need to pay up to get the benefit of most of them. Podium won't get any cheaper, so now might possibly be the best time to buy

Hi Podium-people... this is my first post in here.

Im planning on buying Podium in the near future..

But got just a small question related to this topic; will I be able to upgrade to future versions for free, once bought?

It is reasonable to have to pay for full point upgrades. I myself expect to pay for the upgrade to version 2.0 when it comes out.
So far, if I remember correctly, we had 4 free upgrades and I believe 1.5 will be free (I don't know for fact). The Podium is quite cheap comparing the output we get out of it and shallow learning curve.

I would expect that there is every chance that v2.0 will require an upgrade fee. It will be a major upgrade with a number of new features. Given that he licence cost is cheap in the first place, the upgrade is unlikely to be expensive either.

As sepo says, it is reasonable to pay for major upgrades, and it is customary for point upgrades to be free. This is exactly the same as SketchUp, and most other applications as well.

I am sure the next version will be worth every penny as it is now.
The price strategy  of podium is very straightforward and that is a thing other software developers often lack (look at Maxwell : big money for a buggy program).
I am really curious and excited with the news of a next gen Podium (v2.0).

cheers
