im not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem but it is nagging the hell out of me.  for like the past week ive been trying to render out images for my final studio presentation but podium just stops after the processing geometry stage of the render process.  its a big file (about 40mb) but i have gotten it to render out two images so far so i know size isnt the issue.  i set all my presets and click render and it goes through the processing geometry stage then after that it just stops and the text comes up as if the rendering is finished and has been saved.  but when you click on it all you see it a blank preview box of a 230x150 rendering.  ive even let the image sit for a while to see if there was just a delay but after 15 minutes still nothing happens.  if someone can help me or give me suggestions that would be great.  thanks

EDIT:
ok i just tried rendering another image and it goes through all the steps until "initializing meshes" then it crashes

i had similar problems with files too big... 40M is really i lot, i suggest you to purge your model and create different files for different scenes. i mean: in an exterior render you don't need interior forniture and so on...

the file size isnt the issue because like i said i have successfully rendered images from this file.  the problem doesn't occur all the time just most of the time.  all materials and components have been purged and i am rendering an interior image not an exterior.

Have you tried creating a new file and pasting a copy of the geometry into it? You will lose your preset views and environment settings, but this shouldn't be a huge thing in the overall scheme of things. Sometimes you can get corruption in your file that this method can cure.

That's a very good ideer there Strongbad. . .but You don't need to lose views with this handy dandy little plug in.  It will export and import cameral angles (tho' not the drawing styles) into another drawing.  just click View>>>Pages>>>Export.  It creates an SUP file.  In the new file go to View >>Pages>>import.  Select that Sup file and Voila.  The same scenes.

i just tried using that ruby but when i opened sketchup after saving the .rb i got this message:

Error Loading File pageExIm.rb
No such file to load -- array_to.rb

well i loaded both the above ruby scripts.  i just tried it and the only thing it imports is the location and angle of the camera, not one piece of geometry was imported.  im not sure if i did it wrong but ive tried and tried and got nothing.

David_H:

Don't attach commercial scripts - you're not the author so you can't "give it away for free" and deprive the authors of their income.

pageExIm is a commercial script available through Smustard.

To me it sounds like you have problem with SU. You might have conflicting scripts in SU . You might need to reinstall SU and than Podium again.

i got the script to work all i had to do was download the "array_to.rb" as well.  the only problem was that like i said it still did not import my scene, it was completely blank (could be user error hah).  as far as my machine not rendering images it is definately my machines fault.  I loaded the file onto my desktop and its rendering fine, sssssllllloooooooooooowww but fine.  I just got my laptop back about 2 weeks ago from HP tech support because apparently I needed my motherboard replaced.  Two weeks before that they thought it was my hard drive so they sent another one but I couldn't even get an operating system installed on it.  Now I have to send it in for the second time so they can replace god knows what and probably just f*ck me bigtime.  What would cause a computer to completely shut off at random times?  I tried going into the BIOS and running the short and long tests but they fail after 2 seconds and when I try to reformat my computer it shuts off at the same point each time during installation.  I hate HP

Actually I have found HP's tech support excellent. Not as good as Apple's but still very good.

Motherboard errors and faulty RAM will cause this.
