From a non lighting expert, the lighting set up looks pretty OK but your images are certainly lacking definition.
I think the materials might have some bearing on this.....the paving and pool surround for example looks only so-so.....perhaps try with a different higher rez texture.
Try a bump on the stone texture.
Reduce the bump on the water a little and increase the scale of the texture your using for this.
What rendering preset are you using? What resolution are you rendering at?........go as high as your computer will allow.....at least 2000x pixels
If all else fails try the 'noisy' preset.....60 or 70 passes is often enough.

The reason why images lack definition is because they are enlarged from 500x500 I think. |

Reply with quote | #4 | Thanks for advise. I'm using the quality preset and old 15 preset at the moment and yeah my resolution is limited to 500x500. I will look for high quality texture maps (any websites with nice bump maps you can suggest?) I have just uploaded the textures in the podium registed user area so will see if this makes a difference. Btw, the ripple effect is from photoshop. I tried using some water textures from SU but it was just coming out like a mirror reflection. I will have to get back to the drawing board! |
