So my sister asked me for a blue kitchen concept and based on some other tutorials I was doing, came up with this. As usual, comments, critiques, tips, etc. are very welcome

The render itself is beautiful, it’s one of your very best in my opinion- great job!

The design however I think is a case of form over function. There isn’t enough worktop space for a start. Where would you put your coffee machine, toaster, etc? You have no power outlets. you need them on the wall, and you can have them that pop up out of the island, but that might enforce changes to the design. Better to think of these at the start [smile]

My brother has a very minimal kitchen like this but he still needs space for a juicer, a toaster, and his very expensive coffee machine.
You wouldn’t put it on the island in the middle of the space.

If you think about how the kitchen will be used, you have a space for people to prepare food, a place to cook, and a place to eat.
However if you look at the space next to the cooker (which has no extract over) if you have your blender and coffee machine there, you have very little space to actually cook in. You need spaces next to the cooker to put pans when you take them off the heat and I don’t think you have enough.

The little alcove looks great, but I think it would be better if you balanced the volume of the island with the negative space in the alcove. That would also have a functional benefit.

You never have a textured splashback behind a cooker, it’s too difficult to clean. The full height cupboards will need a step ladder to use...

Of course all these things might be irrelevant if all you are doing is a concept study, but without considering the functional elements, it’s not design, it’s just decorating[wink]

Great render though [thumb]

Haha the famous Andrew Price kitchen! I have done an interpretation too, but I like yours better!

Great comments, as usual, Bigstick. Like JustinSlick says this is an interpretation of another tutorial (thanks! JustinSlick). My sister is a neat freak (way before Mary Kondo!), everything has a place and it's not on the counter. But you're right about most issues. The main idea was to incorporate the blue cabinets into a very modern, simple space. BTW, that countertop is over 12 feet long! However you've given me an idea for a render of a fully functional kitchen with open cabinets, drawers, etc...maybe? Thanks!
