We are launching the first of a series of rendering contests. The first starts today, March 5th and will run for 2 weeks ending on March 18th 11:59 PM U.S. Pacfic Standard Time

Theme: Shop

How to participate:
  1. download render contest_model.skp attached
  2. render it
  3. send it to podium.contest@gmail.com

Prizes:

Judges:

  • biebel
  • fella77
  • sepo
  • TBD (moderator)

Thanks:

  • bigstick - for model and support

Rules

1. All images are to be 640x480 resolution in Podium output only, no post processing allowed.

2. Entries must be anonymous (no signatures or watermark) and submitted to the following address: podium.contest@gmail.com

3. The judges' decision is final and not negotiable.

4. Entries are limited to three per e-mail address (in case you make a better render and want to update your submission)

5. Entries are assessed principally on the basis of render quality, however consideration will be paid to 'artistic interpretation'.

6. The basic geometry of the room (i.e. walls, floor, ceiling & windows) must not be modified. All textures, colours and material properties may be changed. All non-fixed furniture & fittings supplied with the model may be scaled, multiplied, moved and freely arranged.

No other geometry can be added beside 3D light fitting geometry.

7. All entries will grant permission for images/model to be published on the Podium web sites, or in any other promotional literature that may be required in future. If it is requested by the judges you may need to provide the modified model that was rendered.

8. There will be 2 categories, Professional and Amateur. The first category will be for people who have significant rendering expertise. The second will be for people who do not have extensive rendering experience. The judges will decide which category each entry falls into.

9. Any entry, which in the judges' decision, breaks the rules will be disqualified.

10. The contest is open for two weeks from the start date of the contest. Entries received after render contest end date will not be eligible.

11. Any questions regarding contest should be posted here, on the Render Contest subforum.

Good luck !

ater edit (last edit first):

* added scale to the modifications allowed to furniture components

* added mirror for the model

* added theme of the contest

* no other components allowed

* added list of judges

Just a quick explanatory note regarding the model.

We have provided some display units, comprising a cube and a shelving unit. These may be used in whatever manner people choose to populate their interiors. They can be freely textured, moved, duplicated or even illuminated.

If there are any queries, plese post them as a response here.

> looks like a column? and a shelf? and a big bevelled box?

hint: the column can be used as a lamp and the rest can be combined to create furniture. we wanted to give more freedom so you can create astonishing renders

no other components are allowed to be inserted beside 3D light fitting geometry - to create spotlights (like in this tutorial)
