SU Podium Winter / Holiday Challenge 2018

Hello all!  Been awhile since we've done one of these, but as you may have seen in yesterday's email, we are running a Winter/Holiday render contest!

Dates: Contest runs from now until January 1, 2019, 11:59pm PST.

Theme: Your challenge is to render a winter or holiday image  anything that relates to winter is fair game.
  • Depict any of the winter holidays - Christmas, Hanukkah, Three Kings Day, Kwanzaa, Our Lady of Guadaloupe, Solstice, Yule, New Years, etc. Any holiday observed during winter.
  • Or if you'd rather, simply create a beautiful scene that captures the spirit of winter. Snowy forests, frozen lakes, alpine cottages, wool blanets, mulled cider; you get the idea. Show us what winter means to you, and use your Podium skills to bring it to life!
  • If you need inspiration, Pinterest is excellent for image research.

  1. First - $500 USD, and a Symmetry VR license sponsored by DVERSE Inc. (Symmetry is a VR collaboration platform for HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality).
  2. Second - $300 USD
  3. Third - Free SU Podium V2.6 Upgrade when it is released.

  • Please create a work in progress thread in the Render Contest sub-forum.  Title your thread "Winter Contest 2018 - Username"
  • Post at least one work in progress image showing either the Podium info bar or a screencap showing the ProWalker GPU interface.  Renders must be created with SU Podium or ProWalker GPU.
  • Final submission - Submit at least one high resolution (1920x1080 or larger) image in the "final images" thread.
  • *Only original submissions will be accepted: To keep a level playing field, please don't submit a past portfolio/client piece. Only work created specifically for this contest will be considered.
  • Use of Podium Browser is allowed and encouraged but not required
*Question: Can I take a scene or model that I designed for a previous project and re-design / modify it to fit the winter theme?
Yes we have decided to allow this!

Community Vote
  • Winners will be decided by a public vote after the submission period closes.
  • You are not allowed to vote for yourself (we can tell).
  • We will likely proe on social media in an effort to bring in as many unbiased voters as possible.

Good luck!
We hope you find time to participate and look forward to seeing your submissions! Please post any questions below.
