Am I crazy or are these high poly cars the only ones available in the browser.  My model just came to a screeching halt.  Can't....move...
It was an 84mb file and now it's 248mb!
It's painful.

The cars range from ~5 MB up to about 90MB for some of the recent ones. If you are using the new Podium Browser with V.6 you can see the file sizes.  But here are some screencaps to give V2.5 users an idea of the file size.

The lowest poly cars are the ones in Browser with the thumbnail rendered against a road backdrop.  These range from about 2-6 MB.

The next 40ish are sort of in between, ranging from 20-50 MB

Some, but not all of the most recent can be in the 60-90 range.

I do think it's worthwhile to have some high poly cars available like the latest batch.  You can always keep them on a hidden layer until render time, which is good SketchUp practice anyway. They look really nice if you need something close to the camera!

I just watched that video today too.  Same issue, but with Podium Browser plants instead of cars.

not long after my original post, i started to think it's the plants that are the issue and not so much the cars.

Some trees in particular take a lot longer to render due to a the way the texturing was configured. Some of the trees were built in NGPlant and imported into SU via Collada and tweaked.
This UV mapping method tends to fragment the textures and increase render time.

It's not a problem for ProWalker, and there aren't too many trees that suffer from this in Podium.

However it shouldn't happen with shrubs.
