Hello.

When I first began using Podium about 7 years ago the edge resampling seemed to do a lot of work to help produce a nice final image, but when I watch the process on my models these days it looks to me like there's a perfectly acceptable image generated before the edge resampling begins. Seeing as the edge sampling is the longest process, is there a way I can skip it and go straight into the "edit" function immediately following the raytracing?

You can disable this, but you need to manually edit the presets.

Make a copy of the preset you wan to modify, then using a plain text editor (Notepad on Windows, Textedit on the Mac - there are alternatives)  modify the following lines:

var __pxFiltRad, 0.8;

pixelfilter box,__pxFiltRad;

to this:

var __pxFiltRad, 0;

//pixelfilter box,__pxFiltRad;

They will not be next to one another in the presets.

Pixel filters are like Photoshop filters. There are different options. They can help with things like moiré effects.

My favourite filter is the Mitchell Netravali filter. It softens the imge a little which I think is more 'photographic'.

If you want to try it, simply replace this line:

pixelfilter box,__pxFiltRad;

with this:

pixelfilter mitchell;

Enjoy đŸ˜‰

Hi Bigstick,

Will try your suggestion. However, I don't see pixelfilter box,__pxFiltRad; instead I see pixelfilter quadric,__pxFiltRad; are they the same?

Thanks!

There are different types of pixel filter - lanczos, box, quadric, mitchell and some others.

All except the Mitchell filter need the additional pixel filter radius parameter.
